Millennium Celebration goes on

We are continuing to celebrate our traditional holidays and festivities in different parts of the country. Here are some of the forthcoming celebrations in Tigrai :-

· 2^nd March 2008 ( 23 Lekatit , 2000) The victory of Adwa will be cerebrated   in Adwa and Ethiopians from all over the country are coming there. The National committee together with the local community is finalizing arrangements for the celebration. I hope you have heard the News that a Cultural Center is to be built on the slops of Soloda Mountain.

· 19 Feb 2008( 11 Lekatit 2000)  the thirty third anniversary of the launching of the struggle by the TPLF will be celebrated in Shire-Enda Selassie not far from Dedebit where the struggle was launched in 1975. By the way Dedebit is growing to be a small town. Participants will have the opportunity to visit Dedebit and see the changes and development that are taking place across Ethiopia since the fall of the Derg.

· 19 January 2008 ( Tri 2000 ) Aashura Al Negash will be celebrated in the historic small village of Negash north of Wukro. Negash is the place where the Moslems that fled persecution in Saudi Arabia were given refuge and protection by the king of Axum. There is where they stayed until things were sorted out is Arabia. That is also why Mohammed enjoined his followers never to declare Jihad against Ethiopia.
